Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labor Minister, Anil Vij said that “I have been elected by the people, the people made me an MLA, and the people have given me a certificate. Therefore, I will speak in the Haryana Assembly for five years.”

Sh.Vij made these remarks in response to the issues raised by Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda regarding the budget during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Assembly in Chandigarh.

He further said that “I am not here because of you (Bhupinder Singh Hooda), and today you say that you will not let me speak. The people have elected me and sent me here. When he (Hooda) was the Chief Minister, he used to have me thrown out, he wouldn’t let me speak, and we had to struggle for every single word, Sh. Vij said.”

Addressing the Congress leader in the Assembly, Sh.Vij said that “Bhupinder Singh Hooda keeps talking about reducing expenses, so tell us where to cut spending—should we reduce it in healthcare, education, agriculture or transport? Tell us where to cut down.” He advised Hooda, “Simply raising an issue is not enough. If you bring up a subject, also suggest a solution for where we should reduce expenditure, he added.”

Speaking about the budget, Sh. Vij added that “We have already mentioned our revenue in the budget. If you claim we are lagging somewhere, tell us where. Our overall budget is higher, standing at ₹2.05 lakh crore. So, tell us where we are lacking, he said.”

Regarding the Rai Sports University, Sh.Vij stated that “When the university was established, a sportsperson, Kapil Dev, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor. We support the idea that a sportsperson should hold this position because they can better understand the emotions of athletes. However, at that time, the central government raised objections, and the university could not move forward. Keeping that in mind, a new proposal is now being brought forward, and the government will discuss and decide on the matter.”
