The Imperial Golf Estate located at Mullanpur Dakha near Ludhiana, with its lush green & picturesque golf course, is all set to host a one day ‘Junior Golf Tournament’ on January 28,2018. The tournament is being organised in association with The British School Golf Academy, Chandigarh and the Indo Canadian Golf Association.
The Imperial Golf Estate, is a 300 acre gated golfing township with a golf course & high end real estate infrastructure in serene environs, near Ludhiana. Top officials of The Imperial Golf Estate held a press meet at Chandigarh Press Club, to announce details of the tournament. “We are organising a Golf Tournament for juniors and also a tourney for golf aficionado adults from Tricity,Punjab & other parts of North India. The purpose of holding a press meet at Chandigarh is to tap avid golfers for the tournament. This city is a cradle of golfers, as it has given the country top names in Golf like Jeev Milkha Singh & Harmeet Kahlon to name a few. We would like to invite young golfers to play at our course which is a Golfers’ paradise with its awe inspiring contouring, land-scaping, lakes et al. It is both an Eco Friendly Golf Course as well as an Engineering marvel,” Said Mr Ravi Khanna, Director, The Imperial Golf Estate, Ludhiana.
Added Col C J Pal, VSM, Project Head, The Imperial Golf Estate, Ludhiana, “Underground electric wires, no flooding in course, rain water harvesting are some of the notable features in the Estate. We plan to plant 8 lakh trees and bushes & 4 lakh varieties have already been planted. The irrigation is by use of a state-of-the- art computerised system.”
No fees will be charged from players & the tourney will be played over 9 holes.
“The Junior Tournament will have participation of children in the age group of 5 to 18 years and college students of age 18 to 20. The other segment will be adult Golf players from different walks of life which includes doctors, lawyers, government & army officers, business people etc. The tournament will be played as per the IGU guidelines.” said Mr Manjit Kochar, Golf Instructor, Chandigarh Golf Club.
The Juniors have been divided into 5 groups -A,B,C,D & E. ‘A’ group is for children between 15-18 years; ‘B’ for 13-15 years, ‘C’ for 10-12 years, ‘D’ for 8-9 years and ‘E’ below 8 years. “There is presence of young talent in the tricity. We want the Golfing fraternity here to experience our world class course on 28th of this month. The winner, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will be awarded with trophies and certificate of participation will be given to all the participants.” Said Mr John Volz, Head, Golfing Operations at The Imperial Golf Estate. Mr John is a Golf professional from the U.S.A. who was involved in the construction of Estate from the word go. “It is a very interesting place to play”, Added John.
