The Geographic Information System labs established at Headquarters in Haryana
The Geographic Information System (GIS) labs established at Mini Secretariats of District Headquarters in Haryana has been proved to be an effective measure to monitor the activities of each department through satellite. In this direction, GIS lab has been established at Jind with the assistance of District Administration and Haryana Space Application Centre.
After establishing the lab, work on the planning of future projects of various departments was started in the lab. The data of all departments is being digitized through satellite images. The specialty of this lab is that the projects being executed by the departments could be monitored through satellite. After completion of data, there would be no need to visit different departments for any information.
In the first phase, the lab has started collecting data of property tax of Municipal Council, Jind. After completion of data, all details such as name of property owner, contact number, area of the property, whether the property is located in residential area or commercial area and photo of the property would be made available online. Also, the location of property and available public facilities in the area would be easily available. Not only this, authorised and unauthorised colonies could also be identified easily through satellite. On this pattern, the same work would be carried out in Narwana Municipal Council, and Safidon and Julana Municipalities. While buying property, people would get to know whether it is authorised on not.
Deputy Commissioner, Jind, Mr. Amit Khatri said that data of departments such as Revenue, Irrigation, Agriculture, Election, Panchayat, Police and Education was also being collected in the lab. The data collected through use of satellite in GIS lab is safe. In future, data of all departments would be made online and common man would be able to get information online.
The GIS Lab has made online the public facilities available in Narwana which could be checked on http://jind.gov.in/narwana.
