Special Checking Exercises by Chandigarh Police in view of forthcoming Independence Day-2018
Keeping in view of Independence Day-2018, Chandigarh Police is regularly conducting various checking exercises to avoid any untoward incident in the city. The various operations are undertaken by Chandigarh Police for the maintenance of law & order and also for the purpose of safety and security of citizens especially Women & Children.
Flag March Conducted by Police Stations
On 13.08.2018, a joint Flag march was conducted under the supervision of SDPO South by SHOs of three police stations i.e. PS 34, 31 & 49 along with Police Station staff. The flag march/foot patrolling was carried out at Sector 34, Burail, Sector 45, Ramdarbar, Sector 31, Ph-2 Ind. Area, Sector 47, Sector 51, 50, 49, 48 Chandigarh. SHO’s along with staff conducted flag march in Market and residential areas. Announcement regarding security scenario to general public was made. General Public was advised to inform police in case they see any suspicious object, person and activity.
These special checking drives are being conducted under directions of SSP/UT, Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS issued to all the SDPOs/SHOs of police stations in their respective areas. These special drives are being conducted by Police Stations staff under the close supervision of SDPOs and SHOs. All the SDPOs & SHOs have been briefed about the safety, security of citizens especially Women & Children and maintenance of law & order in their respective jurisdictions.
Gautam Adani, nephew Sagar summoned by US SEC over 2,200 cr-bribery case
Adani Group’s billionaire Chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar have been issued summons over US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) allegation about paying $250 million (over ₹2,200 crore) in bribes. The duo has been asked to respond within 21 days, as per the notice sent via a US court. The summons were sent to their residences in Ahmedabad.

Powerful new missiles are ready to be used
Putin amid Ukraine war Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the country has a stock of powerful new missiles ” ready to be used”. Putin saif this a day after Russia fired a new intermediate-range missile into Ukraine for the first time. he added that the firing of the missile was prompted by Ukraine’s use of US missiles and British cuise missles to hit Russia.

After US and Britain allowed Ukraine to hit Russia with their missiles, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his country’s war with Ukraine was escalating towards a global conflict.Putin warned the West that Rusia could strike back. He further said that Russia fired a new kind of hypersonic meium-range ballistic missile at Ukraine. adding that more could follow
A terminal at London’s Gatwick Airport has been evacuated due to a security threat. “Safety and security of our passengers and staff remains our top priority. We a re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” an airport spokesperson said. Railway services are also not stopping at Gatwick Airport station untill further notice.
Congress wins all 3 seats in Karnatka by-polls
Congress candidates registered wins on all three seats which went for by-polls in Karnatka. Pathan Yasirahmedkhan won from Shiggaonwith margin of 13,448 votes, defeating BJP’s Bharath Bommai, E Annapoorna won from Sandur with margin of 9,649 votes defeating BJP’s Bangara Hanumantha. CP Yogeeshwara won from Channapatna with margin of 25,413 votes defeating HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
