Scarlett Johansson : I am done doing Marvel movies

Actress Scarlett Johansson has announced that she is finished playing the role of Black Widow in Marvel movies, as reported by Insider .

Johansson made the statement while appearing on “The Goop Podcast” with her fellow MCU co-star, Gwyneth Paltrow.

Johansson stated that she has completed her time with Marvel and that playing the same character repeatedly over the course of a decade was a unique experience.

Johansson played Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, in eight Marvel movies, including the standalone film “Black Widow” released in 2021.

Paltrow also asked Johansson about rumors of a feud between them during the filming of “Iron Man 2,” but Johansson denied it and praised Paltrow for being kind to her during the filming.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe having been around for so long, it’s no surprise that some actors have retired from their roles.

Scarlett Johansson and Zoe Saldaña have confirmed that they won’t be returning as their respective Marvel characters.

However, there’s a chance they could appear in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars crossover event, depending on two factors.

Johansson confirmed in an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow on The Goop Podcast that she’s done with the MCU, having completed her character arc as Natasha Romanoff.

While some fans speculated that a variant of her character could return in Secret Wars, it now seems unlikely.

However, actors in the MCU have been known to deny their involvement in future projects, so it’s not impossible that Johansson and Saldaña could return.

Since Secret Wars is still far down the line, contracts may not have been signed yet, so there’s still a chance that Johansson and Saldaña could change their minds.

If they don’t wish to return, the characters of Black Widow and Gamora could still make appearances as variants played by different actors.
