The state President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh Sanjay Tandon attended the review session of Union Budget-2018 at party office Kamalam, sector 33 which was organized by the CA Cell of the party. Tandon heard the budget speech of Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley and discussed the budget with chartered accountants, company secretaries, and traders.
Tandon – who himself is a CA – termed the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Budget as a pathfinder and progressive. He said the budget has taken care of farmers, the poor, the elderly and all sections of society. He said that this budget is centered on the development of infrastructure especially in agriculture, health, education, tourism and railway.
Highlighting the important aspects of the budget, Tandon said, “The Union Finance Minister has ensured the prosperity of the farmers has been ensured by protecting their cost of cultivation and giving them benefit of 50 percent over their cost. The flagship National Health Conservation Scheme has been launched to bring more than 10 crore families under which coverage of Rs 5 lakh per annum per family will be given for the treatment”.
He said that in order to provide dignified life to senior citizens, the Finance Minister has made income of Rs 50,000 tax free. Besides they would get 8 percent of interest rate on Rs 15 lacs.
Tandon said that in an effort to reduce corporate tax in a phased manner, companies with turnover of upto Rs.250 crore have been kept under 25 percent tax. This will benefit 99% of the micro, small and medium enterprises.
He said that three lakh crores have been earmarked for the employment of youth under the money scheme. Free electricity connections will be given to 40 million poor houses in the country. The infrastructure of railways, roads and airways will be expanded. All railway tracks will have 100 percent broad gauging and the number of airports will be increased five times.
