Saheedi Samaraks will be built in Rewari&Panipat in the memory of Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya, announces CM
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while addressing the gathering at the grand event to honour Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya on his coronation day today at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi announced that Shaheedi Smarak would be built in the memory of Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya in the districts of Panipat and Rewari.
Under the Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana, these Shaheedi Smarak will be constructed on 4 to 5 acres of land in both districts to inspire future generations with the saga of Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya’s valour,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
During the function, the Chief Minister and Union Minister of State for Communications, Sh. Devusinh Chauhan who was the special guest of the event also launched the memorial postage stamp.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the present state government has worked to promote the lives and teachings of great saints and leaders through the Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana. In the past, there was a tradition of honouring and carrying forward the names of ancestors or forefathers.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of always remembering and respecting our martyrs. He said that our nation will always be indebted and grateful to our brave soldiers and patriots who sacrificed their lives to protect the country, unity, and integrity.
The Chief Minister said that Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya was crowned in Delhi on October 7, 1556. Even though he ruled for a short period, his influential persona during centuries of Islamic empires is an important chapter in Indian history. In the village of Saundapur near Panipat, his statue still stands.
“Such great personalities are not only our invaluable heritage but also a source of inspiration for future generations. It is our responsibility to preserve and protect their legacy. Therefore, through the Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana, we are working to bring the messages of saints and great personalities to the masses, so that the younger generation can be inspired by their lives and guidance,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister highlighted the birthdays of great saints and personalities such as Lord Parashurama, Maharishi Kashyapa, Kabir Das, Maharishi Valmiki, Guru Gorakhnath, Dhanananda Bhagat, Jyotiba Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Guru Ravidas Ji are celebrated at the state level. To honour these great personalities, many educational institutions in the state have been named after them. Such initiatives ensure that society and the nation remember and honour their martyrs and remain vigilant towards their welfare, he said.
He also stated that Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya is an invaluable heritage of Indian culture. He was a great leader whose journey from an ordinary person to an emperor is a source of pride and honour for us. It provides inspiration to our new generations to move forward in life with patriotism and courage, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Union Minister of State praises Manohar Sarkar for starting Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana
Union Minister of State for Communications, Sh. Devusinh Chauhan praised the Chief Minister-led Haryana government for starting Sant Mahapurush Samman and Vichar Prasar Yojana to promote the thoughts and ideas of saints and great personalities.
He said that Samrat Hemu had enhanced the glory of Mother India, and in this regard, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has also issued Panch Pran, one of which aims to preserve the heritage and evoke a sense of pride.
The Union Minister of State also appreciated the working style of Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal and said that the remembering of the thoughts of saints and great personalities is the best example being set by the Haryana government for the entire country. He pointed out that in the pages of history, the glorification of cruel rulers is regrettable because from 1947 to 1977, there were ministers who did not give due recognition to the bravery and valour of warriors like Emperor Hemu.

Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations, Language, and Culture Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal welcomed the distinguished guests and said that today is a proud day. This event is the result of the vision of the Chief Minister. Sh. Manohar Lal as he has always emphasized the importance of knowing the glorious past of India.

Today, as we celebrate the era of independence, it is essential to look back and remember those great personalities so that future generations can learn from our past,” said Dr. Amit Agrawal.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Union Minister of State, Sh. Devusinh Chauhan and others also released the book ‘Emperor Hemchandra Vikramaditya: The Unique Ascendant’ and another book at this event.
