Review meeting of PISA held in Chandigarh
CHANDIGARH–A meeting to review PISA preparation and to review the infrastructure, teaching techniques etc was held at UT Guest House, Sector- 6 under the chairmanship of Mr Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chairman CBSE, New Delhi here on Monday.
During the meeting an overview of PISA preparation was presented by the Director, SCERT in which he talked about the resource material developed by Chandigarh including capacity building of teachers and heads during pre and post lock down period.
The coordinators of subject expert groups also presented the resources developed and interventions taken by them.
An interactive session with the stake holders was also held on the issue how to explore the passion and awaken the students’ interest and found out the learning gaps and working on these.
The Education Secretary, Mr SS Gill appreciated the work done by expert groups in Chandigarh and also talked about integration of subjects. The chairman, CBSE Mr Manoj Ahuja emphasized that it was very important the students, teachers and principals worked together like a team to enable the students and parents understand that CCT skills were of paramount importance as these empower the child to deal with day to day life and met the challenges of life boldly.
The other officers present in the meeting were Education Secretary Mr SS Gill, Director School Education Mr Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, SCERT Dr. S.S.Dahiya, and other senior officers of Education Department.
Notably, Chandigarh has been selected for PISA 2021 competition among the union territories by the Government of India to participate in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA 2021) which will be conducted at an international level. Preparations for PISA is involved an action plan constituted by the Department of School Education of Chandigarh that would involve applying knowledge gained in new ways, analyzing concepts into parts and relation with each other, evaluating judgement based on the process taught, creating processes to an innovative way, special coaching classes for slow learners to improve their learning outcome, effective and regular monitoring.

Under the programme around 21000 students of 15-year-age of Hindi and English medium schools will be prepared by the education department to participate in the preliminary selection organized by PISA. EOM
