| Regular Health Checkups Are Essential for Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizen Council of Ludhiana, in collaboration with MASSH PROLIFE  Hospital, organized a special health awareness program at the Model Town Extension premises in Ludhiana. The event aimed to promote the importance of regular health checkups, a balanced diet, and an active lifestyle among senior citizens.

Dr. Harpreet Singh Jolly Director – Laparoscopy & Bariatric Surgery MASSH PROLIFE Hospital stated, “With age, the body’s immune system weakens, and several diseases can emerge without prior warning. Regular health checkups are essential for senior citizens to detect illnesses in their early stages and initiate timely treatment.”

Dr. Jolly emphasized the prevention of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. He advised that light physical activities, yoga, a balanced diet, and adequate water intake can significantly improve the health of elderly individuals. He also highlighted the importance of mental well-being and encouraged senior citizens to participate in social activities.

At the event, Ludhiana’s first female Mayor, Mrs. Inderjit Kaur, said, “Senior citizens are the foundation of our society. Programs like these play a crucial role in ensuring their well-being and healthcare.”

FICCI FLO Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Sanam Mehra, also shared her thoughts, stating, “The health of our elders is society’s true asset. We must take responsibility for keeping their morale high and ensuring regular nutritional assessments to maintain positive energy in their lives.”
