Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology Phase Two organized Red Run Marathon in collaboration with Punjab State AIDS Control Society stressing the importance of collective action to prevent the HIV & AIDS epidemic. This Red Run Marathon starts from Gian Jyoti Institute. About two hundred young boys and girls participated in this race and gave a message to the society to avoid this unwanted disease. The marathon was inaugurated by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Punjab, Dr. Balbir Singh. Special Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Varinder Kumar Sharma, IAS, Addition Project Director Dr. Bobby Gulati also attended the ceremony.
Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted the importance of continuous education and awareness to fight against AIDS. He also launched an ICTC mobile van to spread awareness. While speaking at the moment he said that we need to overcome the negativity associated with the disease. He also gave information about the importance of comprehensive testing and prevention efforts. It is an important step to reach the remote and backward areas of Punjab. This van is an important step to ensure access to health services in the remote area of Punjab.Director of Gian Jyoti, Dr. Aneet Bedi and JS Bedi, Chairman of Gian Jyoti Group reiterated the organization’s commitment to support public health campaigns while advocating this social welfare initiative taken by the government.
Prizes were distributed to the top three winners in the girls and boys categories. In the girls’ category, Shaan Veer Kaur, Babita Kumari, Manpreet Kaur and Shweta secured first, second, third and fourth position respectively. In the boys’ category, Mukesh Singh Rana, Uttam Kumar, Vikas and Bijnesh Singh secured the first to fourth positions respectively. These winners will represent Punjab in the upcoming National Red Run Marathon.
