Proxy candidate scam in DSSSB exam busted, 3 women held
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested three women for making someone else appear for them in the DSSSB examination.
The accused even got selected for the post of primary teacher by making someone else appear in the exam for them. After the matter came to light, the selection of the accused persons was cancelled by the DSSSB. They have also been debarred from all exams of DSSSB.
The matter came to light after a complaint from the Controller of Exams, DSSSB, was received by the Crime Branch regarding impersonation by candidates in the online exam for the post of teacher (primary) held in October and November 2018.
It was also informed that the exams for the post of assistant teacher (primary) was held on different dates in 2018 in different shifts in which 71,912 candidates appeared.
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) asks candidates to bring the second page of the admit card on which recent postcard size photograph showing both shoulders and ears is to be pasted on the designated place.
Accordingly, the DSSSB started segregating the second page of the admit cards of the selected candidates for the aforesaid post. During this process, it was discovered that the second page of the admit cards of four selected women candidates were having postcard size photographs of a same woman.
Prima facie, it was evident that one woman had appeared for the exam on behalf of all the four candidates and they all got selected for the post. One woman was arrested in 2018 and the remaining three have now been arrested. The woman appearing in the exam in their place demanded Rs 5 lakh in two installments of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh from the candidates.
