In line with the government’s commitment to make Haryana a drug-free state, Police under a special anti-narcotic drive have seized huge quantity of drugs worth crores of rupees during last eight months period in district Sirsa alone.

          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that during the past eight months, 305 cases were registered and 521 people arrested on the charge of possessing drugs in the district.

 Giving details of the seizure, he said that large quantity of narcotics including more than 4.764 kg heroin, 15.99 kg opium, over 1737 kg of chura post and doda post, 6 kg 200 gram of ganja 2,56,332 restricted pharma pills, 86,080 restricted capsules were seized from the possession of arrested accused during this period.

          He said that following the directives of Director General of Police, Mr Manoj Yadava, the police tightened the noose on drug peddlers and other criminals to completely curb smuggling of narcotics in the district especially in the bordering areas with Rajasthan and Punjab.

          Meanwhile, Mr Yadava lauded the efforts of the district SSP and his entire team who has been taking stern action against those involved in drug peddling.           Apart from taking stern action against drug-peddlers, Police is also making aware the general public about the ill-effects of drug addiction.
