PLEDGE TO MAKE “CHANDIGARH FIRE SAFE”
An initiative by FIRE ANGELS INDIA(WHAM) “Winning Hearts and Minds” (WHAM) is an NGO based out of Gurugram, Haryana, Which is organising an awareness program in Chandigarh “The City Beautiful” to make “Chandigarh Fire Safe” as Part of their Fire Safe India campaign on 4th& 5th of August, 2018. WHAM is Seven years old NGO run by Ms. Suchitra Chhillar W/O Brigadier Ram Chhillar, Bar to Sena Medal, Vishisht Sewa Medal (Retd.), along with other prominent members working towards social development and social safety. There are no active NGOs engaged in the Fire Safety awareness to masses having presence all over India. In order to create awareness about fire safety in the masses of India, WHAM has pledged to support the Fire Brigades across the country by enrolling volunteers called FIRE ANGELS to develop a support line of defense for the Fire Brigades across the country. FIRE ANGELS INDIA has conducted several awareness programs in EAST – Ranchi, Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Bhagalpur, Dhanbad, Dimapur, Guwahati. WEST – Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Ahmednagar, Satara, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Dwarka. NORTH – Jammu, Sunderbani, Vijaypur, Gurugram, Delhi, Faridabad. SOUTH – Hyderabad, Vijaywada, Pallakad, Bengaluru.and more to go These campaigns have created a huge participation of people from all walks of life, especially the youth of today who are socially very active. College students, biker groups, sports persons, dignitaries, and organisations like NCC have extended full support for this initiative. FIRE ANGELS INDIA has created lot of buzz with more than 7000 active volunteers across the country known as Fire Angels. Their vision is to build a community of 10,00,000 “Fire Angels” who will voluntarily spread awareness on Fire Safety across Pan India through Awareness Campaigns, Youth Interventions, Employment and Skill Development of fire victims.
We have adopted colony number – 4 which is a slum area of Chandigarh and has around 7000 jhuggies to make it fire safe in a year. We have gifted free fire safety equipments to 5 families today in the presence of the councilor Mr. Shakti Prakash Deshali.

We are also conducting a cycle rally on the 5th of August which is supported by Mr. Rakesh Mohindra , Department of Laws, Punjab University, Chandigarh.
