Parents of school children protested outside the DEO office
Parents of school children protested outside the DEO office:- Today, under the banner of Parents Unity for Justice, the parents of school children protested outside the DEO office, Sector 19, against the loot of private schools and ignoring this loot by the Education Department of Chandigarh.
The parents gathered along with their children said that since lockdown, they sent hundreds of complaints to the Education Department on issues like , illegal fees collected by private schools, harassing children for fees, removing them from online groups etc but till now no action has been taken by the department on private school mafia. Whenever the representatives of the Parents Unity for Justice go to the Education Department or other officials with these complaints of the parents, they are made to go round from one official to the other official and then to the third officer by the authorities. That is why today parents have been forced to come directly to the office of the Education Department for dialogue and accountability.
Famous social worker Satnam Singh Daun also joined the protest, said that he has been fighting a battle against the unethical rules of private schools for the last several years, but in Corona lockdown, loot by the schools have crossed all limits. No fee concessions were provided by schools despite the huge financial loss on parent earnings during lock down. And now even for the next session, the schools have taken the approval of increasing the school fees from 8 to 16 per cent, while expenses of the private schools are minimal these days and , many teachers and other staff have also been removed by private schools. But even then, every step is being taken by schools to recover the increased fees from parents, . No private school has shown its balance sheet till date, which proves that these school mafia did not suffer any loss in the lockdown. Therefore, we are forced to mark protest today.
