On Sunday, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) declared a partnership in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections. The alliance, led by Pallavi Patel of Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) and AIMIM’s chief Asaduddin Owaisi, is named PDM, signifying “Pichda, Dalit, and Musalman.”

Additionally, the alliance includes other parties such as Premchand Bind’s Pragatisheel Manav Samaj Party and Rashtriya Uday Party.
Recently, the Samajwadi Party severed its relationship with Apna Dal (Kameravadi) due to ongoing public disputes between the alliance partners. SP president Akhilesh Yadav confirmed on Thursday that the alliance, which existed during the 2022 Assembly polls, would not continue into 2024.

The rift between the two parties became apparent when Apna Dal (K) leader and SP MLA Pallavi Patel abstained from voting for two SP candidates in the February Rajya Sabha polls. Patel cited the SP’s neglect of its own PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpasankhyak) formula in candidate selection. However, she claimed to have voted for the only Dalit candidate among the three SP candidates.
Apna Dal (K) is a faction of Apna Dal, initially founded by OBC leader Dr. Sonelal Patel, who passed away in a road accident in 2009.
