Online Roulette: 2nd Most Popular Games in Casinos

Online casino games played in India have received their own popularity ranking based on actual user visits and generated turnovers during the first ten months of last year.

The datasets were provided by one of the country’s leading online casino sites – Casino Days, and were analysed by the research team at online casino comparison platform SevenJackpots. The results were then published in one of SevenJackpots latest research papers dedicated to studying desi casino gaming preferences and trends.

Roulette games appeared as the most popular of the classic casino game categories and was outperformed only by game shows, which are a relatively new type of games based on old TV game show formats such as “Deal or No Deal” or the even more iconic “Wheel of Fortune”.

According to the analysed data, the more than 50 roulette offerings on the site combined (click here to view the individual games) were responsible for 22.91% of the whole operator turnover for the analysed period, seconded by game shows with a share of 34.48% of the attracted user spending.

All other classic casino titles like blackjack (16.11% of registered turnovers), baccarat (7.45%), and slots (4.59%) ranked below roulette games, which even improved their performance in the last three months of the analysed period (August to October) to 26.79%.

Lightning Roulette is the Biggest Contributor

The SevenJackpots research paper has also ranked the 22 individual game titles that registered a share of the platform turnovers exceeding 1% and brought a combined contribution of 68.44% of the whole platform turnover.

Strikingly, the leading game in terms of generated income – Lightning Roulette contributed a whole 15.68% of the total turnovers for the analysed 10-month period, or more than two thirds (68.4%) of the turnovers from the whole roulette category.

Another notable finding is that 9 out of the 22 titles in the ranking are roulette games. For comparison, the other game categories with big representation are game shows with 4 titles and baccarat games with 2 titles.

Lightning Roulette has lowered its share to 11.06% for the last three months of the analysed period, while the games with names like XXXTreme Lightning Roulette, Instant Roulette, and Speed Auto Roulette have increased their shares. As the names suggest, player interest has been shifting towards faster gameplay and more immediate gratification.

Indian Traditions Hold Ground through Andar Bahar and Teen Patti

On the background of this fierce competition by Western casino games and game shows, traditional Indian card games, and particularly Andar Bahar and Teen Patti, hold their ground, even though their combined share of the operator turnovers was measured below the 5% mark.

Andar Bahar games registered a 2.97% share, mostly thanks to titles by Ezugi (1.23%) and Pragmatic Play (1.18%). Teen Patti games brought in 1.67% of the operator turnovers with a major 1.37% contribution from Bet on Teen Patti by Ezugi.

Other Asian games like Sic Bo (3.06%), Dragon Tiger (2.27), and Fan Tan (0.34%) have also found their place in the quite diversified chart of the most popular games played in Indian online casinos.
