One week skill development in electrician trade

Passion with government schemes RCED scripts success story in skill development and it has added new addition to its wings by providing skill development training to jail inmates in Punjab. Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, minister Jails, Punjab, inaugurated one week skill development programme in electrician trade for 35 inmates of Central Jail, Bathinda on Tuesday. The programme is being conducted on behalf of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) by the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) in collaboration with the office of Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), Punjab.

Mr Randhawa while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of SIDBI for conducting two Skill Training programs for the jail inmates in Punjab. The program was conducted at Nabha Jail for 41 women prisoners in the trade of Food Processing and second at Bathinda for male prisoners in electrician trade. He suggested more such initiatives should be taken by SIDBI. While inaugurating the program he advised the prisoners to learn the trade and start repair work within the jail and after their release they should start small service units of their own.

Mr Rahul Priyadarshi, General Manager, Regional Office, SIDBI welcomed the chief guest and assured the support of SIDBI for more such programs. He elaborated various initiatives taken by SIDBI for the promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises in the state of Punjab.

Mr Parveen Sinha, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), Punjab during his address highlighted various Jail reforms which Punjab Government is undertaking. He also conveyed thanks to SIDBI and RCED for conducting both these programs.

Mr. Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED briefly talked about the objectives of the program and contents to be covered.

The inaugural session was attended by Distinguished Guests like Deputy Commissioner, Barnala, DIG Punjab Police, SP Bathinda, SP CRPF, Jail Superintendent Bathinda and Senior Officers from Punjab Police, CRPF, Jail Authority and District Administration.
