Nirdosh School for Special Children had the honour of hosting two of Ludhiana’s Beauty Queens. The School played host to current fbb Colors Femina Miss India Punjab 2018 Anna Kler and yesteryear winner Miss Femina Helene Curtis 1971 Neelam Dhanda.
Children of the school performed a dance sequence for the guests on the popular Punjabi number by Diljit Dosanjh `Lamborghini’.
Lauding the efforts by the School and its management, Anna Kler and Neelam Dhanda interacted with the students of various classes.
Speaking on her achievement, Anna who is scheduled to go to the final round of the Miss India 2018 said that it was her dream to work with children. She has already been working with children of convicts residing in Ludhiana Jail and incidentally this earned her the title of Rajnigandha Pearls Miss Goodness Ambassador at the fbb Colors Femina Miss India Punjab 2018.
Ms Neelam Dhanda who runs Neelam Boutique at Pakhowal Road is Ludhiana’s yesteryear beauty queen who was crowned Miss Femina Helene Curtis in 1971 at the tender age of 19. Talking about her win, she said that there is now a vast difference in the beauty contest with much greater competition now. She congratulated Anna and hoped she would win the Miss India title and go on to represent India and of course Ludhiana in the Miss World.
Anna was recently crowned after going through various competitive rounds first in Amritsar and then in Delhi. Anna is one of eight girls chosen from 24 finalists. Svelte Anna who stands 5′ 10 ” tall had nurtured this dream since her growing years, Being sporty was her forte and she has always best athlete award every year at the Sat Paul Mittal school. Anna took up shooting as a sport and went on to make it to the national shooting in the year 2012. She also qualified to represent India in the Commonwealth Games.
She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio USA in product design. Anna hopes to pursue designing even if she wins the Miss India title, especially wanting to design for children. Anna was chosen a finalist by judges designer Ashish Soni, boxer Vijender Singh and actors Patralekhaa and Abhay Deol.
Speaking at the occasion, Ms Poonam Bindra Chairperson Nirdosh School said that the children will greatly benefit from such interactions as they shall gain the confidence of being able to meet people from the outside world.
About Nirdosh School: Nirdosh School for the Mentally Challenged is run by the Inner Wheel Club of Ludhiana since the last 40 years. The School has the honour of receiving recognition from the district, state and even national committees. At present the school has 62 children and 13 staff members which include two special educators.
