The smart system will help Punjab police in monitoring traffic flow and detecting traffic violations in the city.
As a part of supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation & maintenance of city surveillance & traffic management system with command & control center in S.A.S nagar city, Punjab, Vehant Technologies is deploying the ITMS solution for the Punjab Police.
The Punjab Police Housing Corporation is handling the implementation of this comprehensive project, involving the installation of around 2000 Camera Software by Vehant Technologies. These licenses include Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems, Red Light Violation Detection systems, Speed Violation Detection systems, Central Management system, Video Analytics, Video Management systems, Traffic Video Analytics, and Central E Challan system that will be integrated with the mParivahan portal of NIC to maintain the database of all the registered vehicles in the nation.
How these system works
The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems utilize optical character recognition (OCR) to convert images of vehicle license plates into alphanumeric characters. These characters are then compared against databases for various purposes such as law & traffic enforcement. ANPR systems comprise cameras, image processing software, and databases. They capture plate images, extract characters, and analyze them for identification. The system also monitors the speed of vehicles passing through the camera and issues violations for those exceeding the speed limit. Furthermore, for Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) infractions, an overview camera observes the signal’s status. When the signal turns red, the RLVD system, including the ANPR camera, activates to capture vehicles that violate the signal.
Objective of Implementing ITMS in Mohali
This major upgrade will commence in the coming weeks under the supervision of the Punjab Police Housing Corporation. The primary goal of this installation is to assist the Punjab police department in real-time monitoring and management of traffic flow and traffic violations. These advanced systems are designed to improve the efficiency of traffic management & enforcement by providing accurate, real-time data on traffic conditions & violations. This data will enable the police to quickly identify and respond to traffic congestion, accidents, and other disruptions, ensuring smoother traffic flow throughout the city & encouraging people to follow traffic rules & enhance road safety. This initiative not only aims to streamline traffic management but also to create a safer environment for all road users.
Service Providers of these Advanced Traffic Management Solutions
Vehant Technologies have already contributed to around 50+ smart city projects. Vehant Technologies offers advanced features such as triple riding detection, wrong lane driving detection, and pedestrian crossing violation detection. Recently, they have introduced a seatbelt detection module capable of remotely identifying if a driver is not wearing a seatbelt in a four-wheeler. These features represent typical use cases currently being implemented in smart city initiatives.
