‘Need to leverage human resource pool to become 5 Trillion USD Economy’: Smt Sunita Duggal, Hon’ble MP (LS-Sirsa)

Smt. Sunita Duggal, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha-Sirsa) emphasized in order to become a USD 5 Trillion economy, we need to leverage our human resource pool. Smt Duggal was speaking at a Panel Discussion on “Development & Social Responsibilities: Business & Beyond” organised by CII Haryana at Gurugram today.

Speaking on the social responsibilities, she mentioned that Social Development should be regarded as a collective responsibility of the Government and Industry and urged the corporates to consider prioritizing the areas that require immediate attention including development of backward districts and remote areas for equitable growth while making plans for CSR spends.

Smt Duggal added that though Philanthropy and CSR is not a new concept for Indian companies but a lot is happening in the silos. She requested CII to bring corporates having similar line of CSR activities together on one platform and brainstorm on how we can leverage the synergy.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr V S Kundu, CEO, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) shared a brief on the work being done by GMDA in the areas of water supply, water recycling and social & cultural development. Mr Kundu appreciated the work done by the corporate sector and their commitment for complementing Government’s agenda for the social development with various interventions and support.

Mr Sameer Gupta, Chairman, CII Northern Region & CMD, Jakson Group, mentioned that “business houses, as responsible citizens, should align their business goals with that of the Government of India’s vision of achieving Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030”. He emphasized that CII is working on almost all the SDGs.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anuj Munjal, Past Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & ED, Munjal Auto Industries Ltd said that for companies, the overall aim should be to achieve a positive impact on society as a whole while maximising the creation of shared value for the owners of the business, its employees, shareholders and stakeholders.

Mr Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & Chairman, Sona COMSTAR highlighted that as part of CII@125, in the current year, CII Haryana will work to place 10000 youth through job fairs, adopt water bodies for rejuvenation; adopt villages for various water related interventions; Beautification & Maintenance of road stretches in Gurugram; crop residue management; adoption of District Nuh (Mewat);  tree plantation drive; organizing Innovative Farmers’ Meets to reach out to 15000 Farmers.

Mr Harbhajan Singh, Chairman, CII, Gurugram Zone & Director – General & Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd; Mr Jasmeet Singh, AVP – Corporate Communications & Corporate Relation, JCB India Ltd and Mr Anadi N Sinha, Group Head – Corporate Affairs & President – HR, Minda Industries Ltd also addressed delegates in the session.

The session was organised on the side lines of CII Haryana Annual Session 2019-20 that witnessed participation of who’s who of the industry and over 150 delegates.
