Meta Partners Kidsstoppress To Spread Awareness On Youth Safety And Well-Being In Chandigarh

Meta, earlier announced its partnership with Kidsstoppress, India’s leading discovery platform, to promote teen safety and well-being across  Chandigarh. The partnership aims to spread awareness on educating the parents of teenagers on Instagram’s initiatives on teen safety and encourages conversations to foster a safe and responsible digital environment for teens.

As part of the initiative, a panel discussion was held at Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh which included panelists such as Dr. Shalini Sharma, Counseling Psychologist and Therapist, Nisha Kaul, Principal, Strawberry Fields High School, Natasha Jog, Head of Public Policy, Instagram India and Mansi Zaveri, Founder & CEO, Kidsstoppress.com. Attended by hundreds, including teachers, experts and parents of young users across Chandigarh to foster open communication with their children on responsible digital usage and how to use the power of Instagram.

Meta, reiterating its commitment to keep youth safe online, is engaging with the parenting communities in Chandigarh. Meta has launched 30+ safety tools and features over the past three years, including the more recent Parental Supervision Tools and a Family Center to help parents get more involved in their teen’s experiences on Instagram. While the Parental Supervision Tools allow parents of young users to manage their time on Instagram, the Family Center includes an education hub. Parents and guardians can use the hub to access resources from experts and review helpful articles, videos and tips on topics like how to talk to young people about social media. Teens will also receive notifications after a set time limit on Facebook, prompting them to take time away from the app and set daily time limits.

Sharing more about the initiative, Natasha Jog, Head of Public Policy, Instagram and Policy     Programs, Facebook India (Meta), said, “We want the time spent on our platforms to be meaningful and intentional, and that’s the premise behind this effort. The idea is to make people, especially young users feel safe on our platforms and help parents manage the experience with them. We’re delighted to work with Kidsstoppress.com, to engage with parents and spread awareness of the tools.

Talking about the initiative and the collaboration with Meta, Mansi Zaveri, CEO & Founder, Kidsstoppress.com says, “Having a safe and enriching online experience is one of the top concerns parents continually have. We’re glad Instagram is rolling out these supervision tools in India, and we’re looking forward to partnering with them, so the parenting community in India is aware and equipped with these tools and can initiate a conversation with their teen on it.”

Since a large percentage of digital users today are teenagers, Meta has rolled out a series of initiatives and tools as part of its Youth Wellbeing efforts. These include features like ‘Quiet

Mode’, which helps users to focus and set boundaries with friends and followers on the app, giving teen users more control over the time spent on the app and what they see.
