The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour with the unfurling of the tricolour at Government College of Education, Sector 20D here today. As per the tradition of the college, the oldest serving employee in the order, Mr. Paramjit Singh, unfurled the flag.
Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda in her speech congratulated all present on the occasion and highlighted the momentous day. She also emphasized that educators have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of our nation as “Viksit Bharat in 2047” and should instil in our students the values of patriotism, democracy, and inclusivity. We must encourage them to become active citizens, who are aware of their rights and responsibilities. India has made significant progress in various fields including improvements in education and healthcare, with a strong focus on digital literacy and universal healthcare.
Students of the Music department and staff presented patriotic songs on the occasion. The little stars also presented their creations on the occasion and greeted everyone present with their scintillating performances. The sweets were distributed on this occasion to mark the celebration of Independence Day. The function was conducted by staff secretary Dr. Lilu Ram and the NSS Program officers Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Dr. Aarti Bhatt and Dr. Upasna Thapliyal of the college and was largely attended by the faculty, office and administrative staff of the college. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
