HDFC Bank awards scholarships to over 180 meritorious wards of Punjab Police employees

HDFC Bank Ltd.,today awarded education scholarships to over 180 meritorious wards of Punjab Police employees. As part of its CSR initiative, the bank lends a helping hand to meritorious wards of Punjab Police employees.
The scholarship programme for Punjab Police is in its 3rd year and is open to all wards of Punjab Police employees, studying from class X and up to post graduation or diploma / vocational training, whether full-time or part-time at colleges recognized by UGC/AICTE. The selection criteria include meritorious students based on previous year’s marksheet.
At a function organized at Jalandhar, Mr. Suresh Arora-IPS-DGP, Punjab Police and Mr.Vineet Arora, Regional Head, HDFC Bank handed over the scholarship cheques to over 186 wards of Punjab Police employees in the presence of Mr.SanjeevKalra- IPS, ADGP – Welfare; Mr.Kuldeep Singh- IPS,ADGP- PAP; Mr.Jatinder Gupta, Zonal Head, HDFC Bank; and Mr. Iqbal Singh Guliani, Zonal Head, HDFC Bank.
“As a socially responsible corporate citizen we want to ensure that bright students who are the future of our country are provided scholarship support. The scholarship programme is in line with one of our core values – Sustainability – where the objective is to help create long-term sustainable benefit for the local populace in the state of Punjab,” said Mr.Vineet Arora, Regional Head, HDFC Bank.
In the state of Punjab, HDFC Bank has 455 branches. Nationally, HDFC Bank now has 52 per cent of all branches in its network located in semi-urban and rural areas. As of September 30, 2017, the Bank had a nationwide distribution network with 4,729 branches and 12,259 ATMs in 2,669 cities/towns.
