To promote the indigenous sport of Women’s Kabaddi outside India and for the development and promotion of Kabaddi, the Government of Haryana today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA).
The MoU signing ceremony held here today was done in the presence of the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V Umashankar. Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, Sh. D. Suresh and Principal Secretary, Sports Department, Sh. Navdeep Virk also remained present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. V Umashankar said that the MoU aims at promoting Women’s Kabaddi outside India, with a special focus on Pravasi Bharati Women with a desire to also have the Sport of Kabaddi included in the Summer Olympics.
Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA), a ‘Not for Profit’ Association, headquartered at Gurugram, in collaboration with World Kabaddi, headquartered in Malaysia, proposed this MoU to promote the indigenous sport of Women’s Kabaddi outside India, with a special focus on Pravasi Bharati Women with a desire to also have the Sport of Kabaddi included in the Summer Olympics.
The MoU includes fields of cooperation between the state government and HIPSA such as the exchange of programmes, experiences, skills, techniques, information and knowledge, in matters including training and competition of athletes and athletic teams, training and technical assistance to global youth, through coaches, exchange programmes and visits of sports leaders, sports administrators, professionals, technicians and sports support personnel and training, exchange and attachment programmes for the development of skills in the Sport of Kabaddi.
Furthermore, the MoU also focuses on training, exchange and attachment programmes in the areas of coach education, curriculum development, sports education, sports management and sports infrastructure development and management, in the field of Kabaddi and training, exchange of technology for infrastructure and programmes in the development of information and research in the field of Women’s Kabaddi.
Training, exchange and attachment programmes including exchange of technology and research in the field of physical education and fitness required for contact sports and any other fields or subjects as deemed fit and necessary for the mutual benefit of the Parties, within the framework provided under this Memorandum of Understanding are also part of MoU.
The MoU also includes the exchange of experts, government officials, coaches and athletes in the areas of promotion of Kabaddi, as a sport, globally, the exchange of teaching and curriculum materials on sports, collaboration on curriculum development, joint development and publication of materials of the same and exchange of information on sports development and training systems, including information on sports education qualifications and employment requirements.
The MoU also aims at collaboration in the area of sports research& development in training, collaboration in the areas of sports science, research & development and antidoping programmes, collaboration in the area of physical education and fitness development programmes between the universities or physical education institutes of the two countries, exchange of youth delegations for a period of 10 days to get acquainted with diverse playing conditions of the sport, including, the development of skills, participation in youth festivals and camps and competitions and exchange of experts and researchers in the field of youth development and interaction through meetings, conferences and symposia.
