GGDSD College Inaugurates Gender Champions Club
Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College inaugurated its Gender Champions Club today. Mrs. Manisha Gulati, Chairperson, Punjab State Women’s Commission was the Chief Guest on the occasion. This initiative is keeping in line with the guidelines by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the UGC, New Delhi.
Highlighting the concerning issue of gender inequality in the present day, Mrs Gulati spoke at length about her work in the State of Punjab. She said, “Gender equality is a theoretical term. It will become a reality when members of all genders respect each other. What is also required is a strong law that promotes gender justice.”
Talking about her own struggles, Mrs. Gulati added, “As a woman, I felt discriminated against. I decided to take matters into my own hands and get a good education. I then, decided to fight for gender justice.” She said, “I’m trying to bring justice to our women in a male-dominated society. Women don’t get equality in public and professional life. But there are cases where males also don’t find a voice when they try to fight for gender justice. I stand for all genders and the truth.”
