Foundation Day Celebrated at NIPER, SAS Nagar
The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ enacted by the act of Parliament (NIPER Act 1998) under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, and Government of India.
The Institute celebrated its Foundation Day today on 15th February, 2019 (Friday) at NIPER Convention Centre. The programme started with a 2 minutes silence to pay respect to the CRPF personnel who died in the Pulwama IED blast, yesterday on 14.02.2019.
Sh. Ajit singh, Chairman and Founder, ACG Worldwide, (formly the Associated Capsules Group), Mumbai, was the chief guest. Dr. Anil Koul, Director, CSIR- Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) was the guest of honor.
Thereafter Prof. Raghuram Rao Akkinepally, the Director presented Annual Report of the Institute highlighting various achievements in the area of education, research, placement, patents, technology transfer and awards.
Director, Prof. Raghuram Rao Akkinepally while addressing audience gave brief introduction of chief guest. Ajit Singh has served on the Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) as an Expert Member. He was also nominated to the International Board of the Controlled Release Society, USA. ACG,is the world’s second largest manufacturer of empty hard gelatin capsules gelatin The ACG group offers manufacturing, packaging, research and development services for the pharmaceutical industry.
Guest of Honor, Dr. Anil Koul delivered his talk on “Innovation in Global Public Health Space”. He advised the students the critical nature of the success and not to follow others but create their own path. Things are moving so fast these days that unless you bring your new ideas on the table you will never succeed in your innovations.
Chief Guest Mr. Ajit Singh delivered Foundation Day Lecture titled as “An Overview of Pharmaceutical Industry and Science”. His lecture gave a overview of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry and science, including its strengths and weaknesses and some comparison with industry overseas. His talk also covered the emerging situation in China that can threaten India’s pre-eminent position in the world generic market.
At the end, NIPER staff and students were awarded for their achievements. Ranjna Jain,Department of Pharmaceutics was the winner from student’s wing and Dr. Rajdeo Kumar of CIL was the winner from staff of General Science Quiz, organized on NIPER Foundation Day. Mr. Sanjay Samal and Mr. Anil Gupta were the winner of G.K. Quiz. Team of Navneen Singh, Jhanvi Wadhavan and Deepika Patel od department of Pharmaceutics, was the winner of “National Pharmacy Week debate competition” held on 19th Nov 2018 on topic “Online Pharmacies– Challenges and opportunities”. Ms. Samima was the winner of Essay Competition on Vigilance Awareness Week on 02.11.2018, on topic “Eradicate Corruption- Build a New India”. Ms. Samima, Ms. Himani Matre and Mr. Kiran Shinde were also felicitated for their marvelous handmade paintings on “Communal Harmony and National Integration”

The function culminated with the vote of thanks by Prof Rahul Jain, the Dean, and NIPER. The foundation day function was well attended by young budding researchers, scientists, faculty, staff and students of the Institute.
