In a major breakthrough, Anti Snatching, Robbery and Dacoity Detection Cell of Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police headed by Inspector Amanjot Singh under the close supervision of DSP/Crime Smt. Harjit Kaur is able to bust a gang of cheaters who cheated lot of gullible people in the lieu of fake recruitment in Chandigarh Police as ASI, Head Constable and Constable. The team has been arrested kingpin accused of this gang:-
- Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty s/o Kartar Singh r/o E-8/18, DLF Flats Amravati, Panchkula, Haryana, age 38 yrs.
The facts of case are as under:-
On 24.03.2018, when, a team of Crime Branch headed by SI Satwinder Singh was on patrolling duty near exit gate of parking bus stand, Sector-43, Chandigarh, in the meantime, at about 7.20 PM, some youngsters alongwith a girl and some aged persons approached the patrolling party and stated that they all have been selected in Chandigarh Police on the post of ASI, Head Constable and Constable and asked from police party, when, their training will be started. At this, SI Satwinder Singh told that presently there is no recruitment process is going on in Chandigarh Police on the post of ASI and Head Constable and regarding the recruitment of constable, written test of same is yet to be conducted, then how can they all be selected in Chandigarh Police at this time. At this, they stated that they have been selected in Chandigarh Police, one person namely Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty who pose himself as Sub Inspector in Chandigarh Police recruited them in Chandigarh Police and in lieu of same, he has taken lot of money i.e. lakh rupees from them. Today, i.e. 24.03.2018, the said person namely Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty will come at ISBT, Sector-43, Chandigarh for hand over them, their selection documents/joining letters.
One of victims Kulwant Singh disclosed that Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty who pose himself as Sub Inspector in Chandigarh Police has taken Rs.7 lakhs from him for his selection as Head Constable in Chandigarh Police, other victim Gurmeet Singh disclosed that he has been taken Rs. 3.70 lakhs rupees for his selection on the rank of constable and the remaining amount as told by Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty of Rs. 1 lakh to be taken from him after handing over the selection letter/documents. Sukhdev Singh has been taken Rs. 4.70 lakhs rupees from victim Bikramjeet Singh for the post of ASI in Chandigarh Police and amount of Rs. 4.70 lakhs will be taken by him after providing selection documents. Sukhdev Singh has also been taken 9 lakhs rupees from victim Shamsher Singh for the post of ASI and Rs. 1.50 lakhs from one girl victim for the post of constable, 01 lakh rupees will be given by girl victim after getting selection letter from him. At this, SI Satwinder Singh told them that presently, there is no such recruitment is going on in Chandigarh Police and no such illegal process is adopted by Chandigarh Police for recruiting. After getting the information reliable, SI Satwinder Singh alongwith his team laid a trap at ISBT, Sector-43, Chandigarh. At about 8.35 PM, one person came in white SX4 bearing registration No. CH01-AO-2830, approached to the youngsters and police team apprehended him. During the course of inquiry, he disclosed his name as Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty s/o Kartar Singh r/o E-8/18, DLF Flats Amrawati, Panchkula, Haryana, age-38 yrs. Further, the checking of five envelopes found in his custody were made, five Admit Cards on the name of four boys and one girl having their photographs as well as Logo of Chandigarh Police on the top of each letters found in his possession. Further, the same were taken in police possession as per law by preparing seizure memo. Consequently, case FIR No. 95 dated 24.03.2018 u/s 419,420,467,468,471,120-B IPC,PS-36, Chandigarh has been registered against Sukhdev Singh s/o Kartar Singh r/o E-8/18, DLF Flats Amrawati, Panchkula, Haryana, 38 yrs and co-accused Sukhdev Singh @ Sukha s/o Mohinder Singh r/o Village-Ansal, District-Taran Taaran, Punjab, 39 yrs. The accused Sukhdev Singh s/o Kartar Singh has been arrested in this case and his other accomplices shall be arrested shortly.
Modus Operandi
The kingpin of this gang Sukhdev Singh @ Banty s/o Kartar Singh r/o E-8/18, DLF Flats Amrawati, Panchkula, Haryana, 38 yrs posed himself as Sub Inspector in Chandigarh Police. His relative Sukhdev Singh @ Sukha s/o Mohinder Singh r/o Village-Ansal, District-Taran Taaran, Punjab, 39 yrs further took the gullible people in his confidence that his relative Sukhdev Singh is on the post of Sub Inspector and close contacts of his senior officers, so he can manage to recruit lot of youngsters in Chandigarh Police on the rank of ASI, Head Constable and Constable. Thus, he cheated so many persons except above mentioned five persons by grabbing lakhs of rupees from them. Accused Sukhdev Singh @ Bunty has a tainted past and lot of cheating cases has found registered against him adopting same modus operandi in the state of Haryana and Punjab.
Today, accused has been produced before Hon’ble District Court and obtained 03 days police custody. The investigation is in progress.
