Due to peasant movement, people of Sonipat are on the verge of ruin
Hemant Nandel, Secretary Development, Dr Tara Chand Legal Advisor, Chairman of Petrol Pump Owners, RWA, Factory Owners and Nationalist Parivartan Manch, presented their charter of demands and problems to the media. Significantly, the impact of the anti-agricultural law movement has started falling on the pockets of the common people. Due to the agitation there has been a GT road jam on the Kundali border for the last 135 days and due to this people of Sonepat coming to Delhi have to travel an extra 10 to 20 kilometers daily.
This is a waste of time and money along with fuel. According to an estimate, more than five lakh rupees of fuel is being wasted daily by the people of Sonepat due to this movement. In 135 days of the movement, the people of Sonipat have burnt an additional fuel of about seven and a half crore rupees. 50 to 60 thousand people commute to Delhi every day According to an estimate, 50 to 60 thousand people commute daily from Sonepat to Delhi. Before the lockdown, the daily passengers leaving the trains, who had monthly passes, were close to 30-35 thousand. Apart from this, hundreds of people commute to Delhi daily by buses, cabs and their own vehicles.
Due to the closure of trains, these people currently travel to Delhi by road and for this, at least 10 thousand trains from Sonipat come to various markets including Delhi’s metro station, bus station. Due to the closure of the horoscope border, these vehicles have to come to Delhi via Nahara-Nahari or Kharkhauda. Similarly, instead of 5000 students going to Delhi daily, only 400-500 have survived, Increased fuel costs Fuel costs have increased as the distance traveled.
Not only this, due to the rural and narrow routes, fuel consumption is also increasing. In petrol and diesel trains, the additional expenditure of about 200 rupees is being incurred daily, while in CNG trains also the additional expenditure of 100 to 150 rupees is being incurred on fuel. Big trains more trouble Rai, Kundli, Badi etc. The cost of big trains going to and from the industrial area has increased. These trains have to come to Delhi via Baghpat via the KGP (Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal) Expressway, due to which the route of 40 to 50 km has been extended to about 100 km. It is consuming almost twice as much fuel as before.
