Celebrating the power of womanhood – DLF City Centre organised an award ceremony, ‘Iron Lady Awards – Season 6’, to honour the outstanding achievements of women in their respective fields, at DLF City Centre, IT Park, Chandigarh. While Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria was the chief guest, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla was the guest of honour. Col. Rajeev Bharwan (Retired) who is a sensation on the internet for his interesting stories of the Indian Army’s valour was a special guest.
The Iron Lady awards were given in the categories of – DLF Aspiring Changemaker, Established, Empowered, Educated, Shepreneur of The Year and Inspiration Amplifier.
In his address, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria congratulated the award recipients and said this award ceremony is not just a celebration but a tribute to all womanhood. Quoting Guru Nanak Dev Ji verse “So kyun manda aakhiye, jit jamme rajan” (Why call her inferior, when she gives birth to kings?).
Reflecting on the significance of women in society, he underscored the strength and determination of Mata Gujri Ji, mother of Guru Gobind Singh whose two young grandsons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, were martyred by sealing alive in a wall by Mughals. He emphasized that the immense strength, resilience, and courage displayed by the young Sahibzadas were a testament to the values instilled in them by Mata Gujri Ji.
Meanwhile, under DLF Aspiring Changemaker category Manreet Kaur, a special achiever with Down Syndrome, excelling in dance, yoga, and athletics; Sonali Bakshi, India’s pioneering ladies’ taxi driver, ensuring safe travel for women and children; Ms Somya Thakur, Miss Wheelchair World India – India’s only finalist to make it to the global Top 5; Ms Kavita, and Inspector Somwati received the award.
In Established, Dr Suruchi Garg, Rajni Sethi, Geeta Naagrath, Dr Amanpreet Kaur and Pooja Aggarwal received the award.
In the Empowered category Kiran Malhotra, Kawaljit Sandhu, Amrit Gill, Karamjit Minhas and Ramandeep Kaur Mann received the honour. Under the Educated category Dr Damanjit Sandhu, Dr Deepika Suri, Ms Vandana Godara, Ms Sneh Lata and Dr Neeru Sharma were felicitated.
Under the Shepreneur of the year category, Deepika Mahajan, Rakhi Singh, Neetu Sethi, Sharlina Kaushik and Pallavi Luthra received the accolade. Inspiration Amplifier Award went to Gisela Singh, Arpita, Advocate Amandeep Kaur Sohi, Vaishnavi Bora & Ritu Singh.
A special category – ‘Men of Honour’, to highlight contribution of men too was part of the felicitation. The awardees in this category included P S Negi, Ashish Chabra, Prabhloch Singh, Munish Pundir and M K Bhatia.
The event received support of different corporates, these included Fortis Hospital, Rana Hospital, Sunder Jewellers, Navigators, Nova IVF, HDFC Bank, Ease My Trip, Nitz Beauty Lab & Co., Pro-Ultimate Gym, Torque Pharma, Dr Batra’s, McDonald’s, Tynimo, Olivia Cosmetics, and Aasmaan Foundation. The representatives of these organisations were also felicitated on the occasion.
