A review meeting of the Administrator’s Advisory Counc
The meeting was attended by the members of ten standing committees of the advisory council and officers of Chandigarh Administration to review the action taken on the recommendations made by standing committees in the last meeting.
Standing committee on Education, Sports, Traffic Management, Law and Order, Urban Infrastructure and Social welfare presented their action taken report to the Administrator, whereas the rest of the committees will share their report in the next meeting.
On reviewing the presentations by all the Member Secretaries of the standing committees, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore made an observation that the purpose of this forum is not only to discuss the issues prevailing in the city, but it is to resolve them with precision for the betterment of the people, and the City at large. He has desired that secretaries of all the standing committees shall take up the recommendations of the Chairpersons at the administrative level at the earliest and begin the implementation of work in their respective fields. All the recommendations shall be dealt at their level first and then the progress report shall be submitted for review.
It was also observed during the presentations that there were many issues of the committees that required support and assistance of different departments. The Administrator constituted another committee on the level of Principal Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta in which secretaries of different committees can hold a meeting on the issues that required assistance of committees / departments not under their control. The committee has been constituted to expedite the work and maintain proper coordination between different committees.
Sh. V.P Singh Badnore specially applauded the efforts of the Chandigarh Traffic Police for effective traffic management during the three day heavy rainfall in the City. The dedicated efforts of the Traffic Police kept the City moving swiftly even during the heavy downpour.
In the end, the Administrator desired suggestions from all the members to make the Administrators Advisory Council more strong and effective in its working. He emphasized that the joint efforts of the Chandigarh Administration and members of the standing committees can eradicate the issues prevailing in the City Beautiful and improve the lifestyle of residents of Chandigarh.
