CII NR Healthcare Summit Deliberates on New Normalcy

Punjab’s Recovery Rate of COVID-19 Patients is Over 68% – Shri Balbir Singh Sidhu

Confederation of Indian industry (CII) Northern Region organised the 2nd Edition of Healthcare Summit: Recalibrating Secure Hospital Operations – The New Era today. This Conference aimed to understand potential economic impact of COVID on hospitals and challenges faced, and deliberated upon imperatives for the path to the next normal. The objective was also to understand how healthcare organisations can manage critical data.

Shri Balbir Singh Sidhu, Hon’ble Health and Family Welfare Minister, Government of Punjab informed that the Punjab Government is taking all possible proactive measures to avoid spread in this pandemic. The paramedics and healthcare staff are fully geared up to handle this challenge. The state’s recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is over 68%. The government is taking several measures to take care of the people while ensuring the economy does not take a backseat, Shri Sidhu mentioned.

Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO, National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), Quality Council of India mentioned that the current scenario has brought into focus the importance of quality and how NABH has been a big enabler of adjusting to these challenges. He assured that NABH is always ready to support the healthcare providers concerning improvement of quality of services offered.

Dr Dharminder Nagar, Chairman, CII Regional Committee on Healthcare & Managing Director, Paras Hospitals said that today’s initiative – 2nd Regional Healthcare Summit is one of the important endeavor which CII has initiated. Even as the world continues with the ongoing pandemic, India crossed the million-mark and stands at over 11.6 lakh patients, he informed.

Dr Nagar opined that we should not resist change and be open to technology and innovation. Recalibrating secure hospitals will strengthen systems to collect and use data, for example a system of random assessments or lot quality assurance approaches. While technology empowers patients, real-time analytics improves care and enables a mind shift toward prevention, he added. The pandemic is fundamentally changing approaches to security, and these new strategies will continue to evolve with this new normal, Dr Nagar emphasised.

Mr Pankaj Sahni, CEO, Medanta informed the audience that recalibration cannot happen within the four walls of institutions. A lot of challenges faced are community-oriented. Stakeholders should focus on the healthcare awareness education, infrastructure, technology and mindset shift.
