CII delegation takes up development issues with Mr Gurpreet Singh Khehra, Commissioner Corporation, Jalandhar

A delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry, led by Chairman, Jalandhar Zonal Council, Mr Gurdeep Singh met Mr Gurpreet Singh Khehra, Commissioner Corporation, Jalandhar, at Hotel Radisson Windsor, Jalandhar. The members discussed the various issues faced by the local industry.
Mr Gurdeep Singh, Chairman Jalandhar Zonal Council said the industry wanted to contribute in the growth of the city and discussed the various challenges faced by the industry in the focal and industrial areas regarding maintenance of roads and sewerage. The commissioner also urged the industry members to submit proposals for the resolution of these challenges.
Members of the CII delegation highlighted rampant encroachments in the city to which the Commissioner assured of remedial steps.
The Commissioner apprised the CII members that Jalandhar had been selected for the Smart City project and preliminary meetings with the various stakeholders are being held to execute the project.
He apprised the members that, around 1,000 acres of the city would be developed as a smart city which would be run by a SPV. The particular area will have all kinds of facilities like water supply, sewerage management, power, advanced health facilities, ICT-based e-learning modules in schools, smart traffic signals, e-surveillance and canal system. The area earmarked for the scheme will be situated between DAV College, Workshop Chowk, Football Chowk, Sports Market up to Nehlawali Pooli, Bisht Doab Canal etc.
CII delegation members assured of all support to the administration in making the project great success.
Gautam Adani, nephew Sagar summoned by US SEC over 2,200 cr-bribery case
Adani Group’s billionaire Chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar have been issued summons over US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) allegation about paying $250 million (over ₹2,200 crore) in bribes. The duo has been asked to respond within 21 days, as per the notice sent via a US court. The summons were sent to their residences in Ahmedabad.

A terminal at London’s Gatwick Airport has been evacuated due to a security threat. “Safety and security of our passengers and staff remains our top priority. We a re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” an airport spokesperson said. Railway services are also not stopping at Gatwick Airport station untill further notice.
Congress wins all 3 seats in Karnatka by-polls
Congress candidates registered wins on all three seats which went for by-polls in Karnatka. Pathan Yasirahmedkhan won from Shiggaonwith margin of 13,448 votes, defeating BJP’s Bharath Bommai, E Annapoorna won from Sandur with margin of 9,649 votes defeating BJP’s Bangara Hanumantha. CP Yogeeshwara won from Channapatna with margin of 25,413 votes defeating HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
