Chief Minister inaugurates the ‘Third Panchkula Book Fair

Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the ‘Third Panchkula Book Fair’ being organized at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector-5 in Panchkula today. On this occasion, he also inaugurated Sardar Patel libraries built in village Arunai, district Kurukshetra, village Bara, district Karnal and village Madana Kalan, district Jhajjar through video conferencing. He also went around the Book Fair and released several books.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that our culture and heritage are available in the books. Darkness of life can be dispelled only with the light of knowledge. The purpose of this book fair is also to enhance our knowledge. He said that the Prime Minister has said that where there is darkness, it is not forbidden to light a lamp. If we read even one book today, that one book will light a lamp.

Nayab Singh Saini said that the Fair features thousands of books in various languages. Observing the large crowd gathered, he underlined the significance of books in our lives. “Anyone with an interest in a particular subject can find valuable knowledge in the wide selection available at this fair,” he added.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Mata Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, is revered in schools and libraries. He emphasized that by learning under the guidance of teachers and studying in libraries, we acquire in-depth knowledge of various subjects. He said that the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has established over 25 libraries in the past three years through its CSR initiatives. “Today, we inaugurated three more libraries, which serve as an inspiration for other departments,” he stated.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the BJP government has committed to providing 2 lakh jobs for the youth of the state. He emphasized the importance of libraries for preparing for recruitment and competitive examinations. District-level libraries are already operational at district headquarters, and the government is now upgrading digital libraries in colleges and schools. “The government is also opening libraries in villages, equipped with computer facilities,” he said. “Online resources and e-books are being made available, allowing youth to access information about their subjects online.” He said that for the past ten years, youth in the state have been securing jobs without the need for bribes or recommendations. “Now, instead of seeking recommendations, the youth are preparing for their future by utilizing library resources,” he added.

 
*200 villages will be made model*

Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that under the Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon Yojana, 86 percent of the villages in the State are being provided 24-hour electricity. He emphasized that the state’s power utilities have achieved self-reliance in the power sector. The Chief Minister also highlighted the Adarsh Gram Yojana, which aims to transform over 200 villages into model villages. Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), support is being provided for various initiatives, including poverty alleviation, malnutrition reduction, healthcare, sanitation, environmental sustainability, pensions, education, improving the sex ratio, sports development, and contributions to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. He also acknowledged the significant support from private companies and industries during the COVID-19 pandemic, which greatly assisted local communities through their CSR initiatives.
 

*Libraries built in 20 lakhs each*

The construction of Sardar Patel Library by UHBVN in Bara village of Karnal, Arunai village of Kurukshetra and Madana Kalan village of Jhajjar has cost Rs 20 lakh each. Computer and internet facilities have been provided in these libraries. The youth of the nearby villages will also be largely benefitted from these libraries.

Shakti Rani Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department Sh AK Singh, Chairman SEIAA Sh PK Das, Managing Director UHBVN Dr. Saket Kumar, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh Gian Chand Gupta, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sh Bharat Bhushan Bharti , BJP District President Sh Deepak Sharma and other dignitaries.

Chandigarh, November 4- Haryana Industries and Commerce, Environment, Forests and Wildlife Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that the present government aims at including Gurugram among India’s top 10 cities.  During the meeting, several crucial points related to the Municipal Corporation, HSIIDC, HSVP and the Pollution Control Board were discussed.

The Minister while chairing a review meeting with the officers of the Municipal Corporation of Manesar and Gurugram today directed them to ensure high-quality construction at minimal cost. He further directed the officers to ensure making the city encroachment and polythene free.

Rao Narbir Singh directed the officers to issue challans to shopkeepers and vendors using polythene and also  ensure action against the suppliers of such polythene. He said that the officers of the Municipal Corporation and HSIIDC should identify encroachments in their respective jurisdictions. Encroachments should be removed with the help of the police department and if any encroachments are found after this, action will be taken against the concerned officers.

Meanwhile, after taking detailed information about various issues related to the Municipal Corporation of Manesar from Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Ashok Kumar Garg, Rao Narbir Singh assured that the renovation of the corporation office as well would be done.

Directing the engineering officers,  the Minister emphasised  on high-quality construction at minimal cost. He directed  the officers, especially those in the engineering wing, to spend more time in the field to be aware of the issues of the people in the municipal area. The meeting also discussed the sanitation system in the municipal area in detail.

Ensure inspection of STPs in the society of the corporation area, directs Minister

During the meeting it was informed that the STP water from various societies in the municipal area is being discharged openly at various places without treatment through tankers. Respoidning to this,  the Minister said that such persons should be identified and strict action should be taken against them as per the rules. Along with this, the functioning of all STPs established in the societies of the municipal area should also be checked to see if they are working properly.

He also directed the officers concerned  to ensure that the common people do not face any issues regarding the property ID. Similarly, to assess the traffic jam situation at Rampura Chowk on the National Highway and build slip roads on both sides there.

Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Manesar, Sh. Ashok Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Jitender Kumar, SE, Sh. Vijay Dhaka along with other officers and employees remained present during the meeting.

 

*International Gita Mahotsav to be held from November 28 to December 15*

Chandigarh,November 4 – The International Gita Mahotsav will be organised in Kurukshetra from November 28 to December 15, 2024.

Sharing information in this regard, an official spokesperson said the International Gita Mahotsav this year will be celebrated with great pomp and show. He said the main programmes of the Mahotsav will be organised from December 5 to 11. Extensive arrangements will be made for traffic management. The spokesperson said in 2016, the State government had started celebrating the Gita Mahotsav at the international level.This year in the International Gita Mahotsav, Tanzania will be the partner country and Odisha to be the partner state.

The spokesperson further shared that craft and Saras Mela will be organised in the International Gita Mahotsav and programmes related to Gita Mahotsav will be organised at places falling within the 48-kos of periphery.

*No shortage of DAP fertilizer in Haryana, farmers need not worry: Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana*

Chandigarh, November 04- Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana assured farmers on Monday that there is no shortage of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer in the state, urging them to remain calm as the government is committed to ensuring adequate supplies.
The minister conducted a review of DAP availability and emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken to meet the demand.

According to ministry data, DAP consumption in the October 2023 Rabi season stood at 1,19,470 metric tonnes, while consumption in October 2024 was slightly lower at 1,14,000 metric tonnes. Presently, the state has a stock of 24,000 metric tonnes of DAP, with a daily supply mechanism in place to keep up with farmers’ needs.

In a proactive move, the Central Government has allocated 1,10,000 metric tonnes of DAP for Haryana in November, up from 72,697 metric tonnes consumed in November last year. The distribution schedule includes phased deliveries across the state to prevent any shortfall. Under this plan, 41,600 metric tonnes will arrive in the first week, followed by 40,000 metric tonnes in the second, and 20,000 metric tonnes in the third week.
The officials informed the minister that a rake plan has been made for the supply of DAP fertilizer in various districts. Under this, rakes have reached Bhiwani, Dadri, Rohtak, Mahendragarh, Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra and Jind on November 3 and Hisar, Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, Jhajjar, Sonipat and Rohtak on November 4. Now, on November 5, DAP rakes will reach Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Palwal, Tohana and Sirsa, on November 6, Khori and Sirsa, on November 7, Kaithal and Kurukshetra, on November 8, Bhattu, Tohana, Sirsa and Dhulkot, on November 9, Bhattu, Tohana and Hisar, on November 10, Bhiwani, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Jind and on November 11, DAP rakes will reach Gohana and Jind.

Shyam Singh Rana  directed officials to keep a close watch on the ground-level supply and ensure timely availability of DAP to farmers. Additionally, he instructed a review of urea stocks, as its demand is expected to increase next month.

In a broader appeal, the minister urged farmers to consider using crop residue as a natural fertilizer and to avoid burning it, highlighting the benefits for soil health and sustainable agriculture practices.
