Chandigarh voters decided hung house of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation:The voters of Chandigarh decided in favour of hung house of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation as the final results have been declared here on Monday. Voting was held for MC on December 24.The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has contested Chandigarh Municipal Corporation for the first time came out with a satosfactory note . The election results would be a booster doze for the party and may benefit in enquing Punjab Assembly elections. The AAP  party won 14 our of 35 seats, the city is administered by the Central government and ruled by the BJP for which results were declared on Monday.

                  The BJP, which had swept the last Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls winning 21 of 26 wards, ended second, with 12 seats. The Congress won eight wards and the Akali Dal 1.

Main point of the result is that AAP party won maximun seats with lowest vote percentage  (27.13 per cent); while the Congress got maximum vote percentage but won only eight seats. On the other hand the BJP secured 29.25 per cent of votes cast but won 12 seats; SAD won one seat with 7.09 per cent of votes.

As the Aam Aadmi party emerged as the surprise frontrunner in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections, senior leader of the party Raghav Chadha said that it was a “victory of Kejriwal’s model of governance as people were yearning for a change for years”.

Nine counting centres were set up for 35 wards of the municipal corporation, and counting began at 9 am here on Monday.
