On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a special campaign regarding Vehicular Pollution and Noise Pollution at various traffic junctions i.e.   Tribune Chowk, Piccadily Chowk, Kisan Bhawan Chowk, Furniture Market Chowk, Housing Board Chowk, Press Light Point, PGI Chowk, Khuda Lahora Bridge, Cricket Stadium Chowk, Sectors-11/15 dividing road and Sectors-32/46 dividing road. Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP–Security & Traffic lead this campaign. Sh. Rajeev Ambasta, DSP-Traffic (South, R & D), Smt. Sita Devi, Inspector (I/C–CTP, Social Media Cell & South-West) alongwith SI Harpal Singh, SI Jagdev Singh, SI Bani Singh, SI Jai Kishan and other officials of Chandigarh Traffic Police and Traffic Marshals namely Sh. Gurnam Singh, Sh. Ashok Manchanda and Ms. Sukhjeet Kaur actively participated in the campaign.

Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a special campaign

During campaign, 2500 pamphlets titled “The Pain is Real” and 2500 pamphlets titled “Make City Pollution Free” were distributed amongst the public, driving on road to make them aware about Noise and Air Pollution. Apart from this, 4000 stickers titled “I will not Honk” were affixed on the steering of the public vehicles, making them aware about the harm of blowing horn unnecessarily and to make the City Honk Free. Notices were also issued to 25 Nos. vehicle owners to get check their vehicles checked regarding pollution.

Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a special campaign

Bulk SMSs titled “Let’s not ‘Honk’ today and celebrate – “World Environment Day” – 5th June, 2018” were sent to the citizens and message of No Honking was also flashed through local radio stations i.e. 94.3 My FM, RED FM etc. to the Citizens of City Beautiful.
