Chandigarh Police have taken a number of steps to control snatching & robbery incidents. To ensure that snatchers & robbers regularly attend court dates during trial, an extensive drive is being conducted to execute NBWs, arrest POs. Regular pairavi is being ensured for trial of robber and snatchers. Consequently, Courts have fined 2 sureties, 38 notices were issued to sureties and 30 cases are being considered in various Courts to issue notice to sureties.
In case FIR No. 206 dated 30.12.16 U/s 356, 511 IPC, PS 3, Chandigarh and FIR No. 240 dated 29.08.16 U/s 379, 356, 411 IPC PS 31, Chandigarh, Ms. Geetanjali Goyal, JMIC, Chandigarh & Shri. Jaspreet Singh, JMIC, Chandigarh have fined sureties for Rs. 7000/- and 25000/- on 24.01.18 & 23.04.18, respectively. Moreover, Chandigarh Police have also been successful in arresting 32 POs & executing 48 NBWs since 1st January 2018.
