Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) organized a Capacity building program for the members of School Management Committees (SMCs) at Government College for Education, Sector 20, Chandigarh at 10.00 A.M.. In this program members of School Management Committees (SMCs) of more than 100 Government Schools participated. On this occasion, Sh. Sanjay Tandon, Chairman, Competent Group of Companies, Chandigarh was the Chief-Guest and inaugurated the program. The program starts with the Welcome address given by Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR).
While addressing on the occasion, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, stressed on close relationship between the school and the society. She hoped that the School Management Committees (SMCs) will work for the welfare and best interest of the children in a more effective manner. She also stressed on holding more such type of program because the participation of the concerned masses is the success of any democratic process.
In the inaugural address by Sh. Sanjay Tandon Chairman, Competent Group of Companies, co-author of seven books of Sunrays series contain 52 Inspirational Short Stories with his wife Priya S. Tandon, stressed on teacher taught relationship and parent child bond. He also spoke on good parenting techniques to inculcate values of our culture amongst the children. He quoted examples from his real life experiences which were appreciated by the participants. He talked of the collaborative efforts of all the stakeholders of Education including the parents, teachers, school, social agencies to get the best possible results as far as quality education is concerned.
Ms. Pritpal Kaur, Deputy Director Education (Retd.), Chandigarh Administration gave the keynote address. She elaborated the need to form School Management Committees (SMCs) and their roles in the context of Right to Education Act (RTE). She also stressed on closeness association between the school & Society and teachers & parents.
Smt. Manjit Kaur Brar, Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Chandigarh she spoke on School Development plan and elaborated the mode how to improve the development of Schools.
Sh. Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, CCPCR, told about the School Management Committees (SMCs) and he said the SMCs has a major role in effective implementation of RTE Act in rights perceptive. The Vote of Thanks was given by Sh. Chanchal Singh, Consultant RTE, CCPCR.
