A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh. BL Sharma, IAS, Secretary Vigilance, Chandigarh Administration,today at U.T Secretariat regarding the observance of Vigilance Awareness week from 29th October to 3rd November, 2018.
In pursuit of the vision of the Government of India to make a New India by the year 2022, which is the 75th anniversary of our independence, the Central Vigilance Commission, as the apex integrity institution of the country, endeavours to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life.
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption. The Commission has decided that this year the Vigilance Awareness would be observed from 29th October to 3rdNovember, 2018 with the theme “Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India”

E-governance, and systemic changes in procedures, minimal discretion, reduced public interface, technology based procurement and automation will go a long way in reducing corruption. The Commission has, therefore, been advising all organizations/departments to identify and implement effective preventive measures to fight corruption and to enhance transparency and accountability in their functioning. The Commission has accordingly chosen “Eradicate Corruption-Built a New India” as the main theme for Vigilance Awareness Week, 2018
