Reiterating the need to change the scenario in Punjab and provide employment opportunities to youth in the state, Vijay Inder Singla, congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib constituency lashed out at BJP scheme of Agnipath while addressing a rally at Banga.
While lambasting BJP, Vijay Inder Singla said, “BJP’s Agnipath scheme is a sham. It is an anti-youth policy which is toying with the future of our jawans who are an asset to our country. Punjab is known to send most jawans in the army, till 2020 almost 8000 youngsters were been recruited from Punjab. In the 2 years subsequent to that almost 10,000 youngsters from the region were deprived of the jobs in the Army during this period. Soldiers under the Agniveer scheme would not receive pensions, canteen facilities, or martyr status, unlike their counterparts in the regular Army.”
Apart from making the scathing allegation against the Centre, Vijay Inder Singla said that the Agniveers will lay down their lives but won’t get the status and respect of a martyr. He stressed that voting for Congress will help tackle this unsavoury situation in Punjab from where youngsters enrol in the armed forces on a large scale. He also pointed out the state of framers in Punjab and how they were treated when they wanted to protest peacefully.
Vijay Inder Singla was flanked by Tarlochan Soondh- former MLA and Satvir Singh- Former Chairman and campaigned at Thandian, Sanjog Palace, Ladhana Ucha, Heon, Kangraur, Bharoli, Jhander Khurd, Sandhwan, Mangat Dhingrian, Ward no. 1 Banga, Ward no. 14 Banga and concluded with great vigour at ground, Banga near Masjid.
