In the era of startups, where everybody has been following a fashion of doing something new, Tanuj Goel, a student of BA final of government college Sector 11, Chandigarh, resorted to saving hundreds of lives instead of earning hundreds of rupees. The idea did not a post strike his mind as one big goal to move towards a huge profit-making platform, but his reason and story of commencing a startup is entirely different from what you have known till now.
His startup can be traced back four years ago when he started a blood platform “Friends 2 Help India” for those who are in need of blood. While talking to him, he revealed that the platform has network in Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajsthan, Jammu, Uttrakhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Goa and Chandigarh. It provided any time any where service and he was planning it to go global.. With short span of time he raised an army of 70,000 blood donors across the country who are connected through Whats App.
Call received on the platform (No 70277-00702) within no time a message is flashed to the group of respective area with patient’s name, address, blood group and within five minutes local blood donors reached the hospital.
He also said that through this platform he has arranged blood to the needy as far as in Nepal and Bhutan during natural tragedy. Though he could not maintain a balance with the regularity of organizing blood donation camps yet he will keep him in touch with the good deed he continued donating blood as volunteer. He himself has donated blood 15 times and his father did this noble cause 94 times.
Saddened with untimely loss of precious life due to non-availability of blood, the idea struck in his mind to help such patients. He further said that as if now more than 60 per cent of Indian population needed blood but compared to it only nominal people donated blood. “We should make blood and organ donation as a mass movement,” he stressed.
His idea worked really well as many people across the country started recognizing him as a ‘blood man.’ As a part of the PR exercise for the Startup, he began to bring many blood donation groups under this network to get contact details of volunteer blood donors. Such is his belief in the social cause that he even he motivated youth to keep away from drugs through his speeches and writings.
Recipient of commendation certificate from the department of communication and IT, government of India, he was also awarded best scouts and guides award. He has also participated in World Youth Conference” held at Bhubneshwar in 2012 organized by the British Council.
Besides himself a regular blood donor, he is also motivating youths for organ and blood donation through his speeches and writings. Mr Bikram Rana, State Liaison Officer, NSS Cell, Chandigarh says Tanuj has rightly earned the epithet of ‘blood man’ by arranging thousands of units of blood by motivating others. . Recipient of commendation certificate from the Department of Communication and IT, government of India, his college has also honored him for this noble cause. Besides, number of social organizations have felicitated him.

“Everyone lives life for self, but it gives immense pleasure helping the needy and bringing smiles on faces of others. I associated myself with the cause of blood donation as human blood cannot be prepared in any factory, and only a human can help a human when blood is needed,” says he.
