Basant Celebrated at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri
The festival of yellow colors was celebrated at CGC Jhanjeri campus. Students wore yellow garments, and did Saraswati vandana in yellow dresses. Students enjoyed lunch of yellow rice and halwa. A kite flying competition was held amongst enthusiastic singing of songs like “Rang de basanti chola”.
On this occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal President, CGC informed the students that Basant Panchami day is dedicated to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, arts, science and technology. He inspired the students to devote their maximum time in studies, because quality education is the only way through which they can enlighten their lives with knowledge and can get rid of lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.
President Dhaliwal said that As ‘Diwali’ – the festival of light – is to Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and prosperity, and ‘Navaratri’ is to Durga, goddess of power and valor, Vasant Panchami is to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts.
