an awareness programme on “Kidney Failure & Organ Donation“ was organized in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Baniwal, I.P.S. D.G.P., U.T., Chandigarh in collaboration with  Chandigarh Kidney Foundation NGO, in which 120  police officers/officials of the rank of Inspector, Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector, Head Constable  and Constable of Chandigarh Police have participated.

Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan, MS (Sugery), MCH (Urology), consultant and Head of the Department, Kidney, Fortis Hospital, Mohali delivered lecture to the participants and made them aware about  the kidney related diseases and precautions to avoid kidney failure. He also informed about Brain death & cadaver donation in case of any mishaps/accident.

Since, police is the first to respondent in such scenarios. Dr. Ranjan also emphasized on importance of organ donation in India and motivated to the participants and pledged them to donate organs in case of any accidental death.

The main objective of this workshop is to sensitize the police personnel regarding prevention from kidney disease and donation of organs.
