Awareness program on ‘Inflammatory Bowel Disease’ held
As many as 30 participants were sensitized about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis during an awareness program on World Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Day at Alchemist Hospital by senior gastroenterologists, Dr. Daksh Khuran and Dr. Manoj Kumar on Saturday.
Addressing participants, Dr Khurana said that IBD is a group of inflammatory conditions , that includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affecting millions of people worldwide. IBD has no borders – geographic, physical, or emotional. The diseases can affect anyone across the globe, every part of your body, and every part of your life.”
IBD doesn’t just affect the bowel, it affects the whole body and mind. There’s no cure and there’s definitely not enough awareness. That’s why awareness days like World IBD Day are important. To give people better knowledge so they don’t have the kind of diagnosis, said Dr Khurana.
“People recently diagnosed or living with IBD are often afraid as they are confused and worried that the condition will affect their day-to-day life severely,” said Dr Kumar adding early detection and timely treatment is the key to recovery,” he concluded.
