PHDCCI organized Plantation program on Environment Day
The tree plantation drive was organized in sync with the theme of this year’s World Environment Day-“Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience” and the importance of planting and nurturing trees that would help battle climate change.
R S Sachdeva, Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI, while welcoming the august gathering deliberated upon the significance of celebrating this day dedicated to conservation of environment. He also stressed upon the importance of promoting ecological sustainability.
On this occasion DPS Kharbanda, IAS, CEO, Invest Punjab while planting stated that everyone should plant at least one plant every year to combat the effects of climate change and green house emissions. He also requested the participants to plant tree within this week to mark the celebration of World Environment Day.
Moreover, Karan Gilhotra, Co-Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI also laid down the various aspects that are covered under the aegis of the World Environment Day such as sustainable development, global warming, ecological restoration, plastic pollution and water scarcity and how all the aforementioned topics are of equal importance.
While delivering the formal vote of thanks, Ms. Bharti Sood, Regional Director, PHDCCI emphasised upon the strength in collaborative efforts to protect the environment and making planet earth a better habitable planet towards intergenerational equity. On this occasion Parv Arora, Convener, Regional Power and Renewable Energy Committee and Ms. Pooja Nayar, Chair, PHDCCI SHE Forum, Chandigarh joined the tree plantation drive enthusiastically.
Besides the industry members, interns from Chandigarh University also participated in the celebration.
