70th Foundation Day and General Body Meet of Alumni Association celebrated at GCE20

The Government College of Education, Sector-20 D, Chandigarh, proudly celebrated its 70th Foundation Day on October 18, 2024, marking a significant milestone in its rich history. The event, organized under the auspices of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), included the General Body Meeting of the Alumni Association and a festive celebration, bringing together alumni, faculty, students, and distinguished guests.

The celebrations started with the college anthem, invoking cherished memories among attendees. An invocation ceremony followed, offering a heartfelt prayer for blessings on the college’s future. Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college, welcomed everyone and delivered an engaging presentation highlighting key milestones, achievements in academics, contributions to educational research, and the successful careers of its alumni . The Annual report of the Alumni Association was presented by Dr. Punam Bansal, Incharge of Alumni committee detailing activities over the past years and showcased various mentorship opportunities connecting alumni with current students. On this auspicious occasion the NAAC A+ grade accreditation certificate was handed over to the previous IQAC incharge Dr. Anjali Puri to Dr. Lilu Ram, present IQAC incharge.

The event also included a felicitation ceremony honoring our distinguished retired Principals- Dr. N.L. Dosajh, Dr. Beantjit Kaur, Dr. A.K Srivastava, Mrs. Balwant Daljit Singh Bhatia, Dr. Kamla Sood, Dr. Harjeet Vasudeva, Dr. Latika, Dr. Saroj Saini, Sh. Harjinder Singh, Dr. Daljit Singh, Dr. Rakesh Agnihotri, Prof. K.L. Sodhi, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, Dr. Jasvir Kaur Chahal.

The event was also marked by the release of the college newsletter- Odyssey on the 70th foundation day (Issue 1 Volume 4), NSS cell Newsletter (Issue 1 Volume 4) and Home Science Newsletter -Jijivisha (Issue 1 Volume 4), highlighting significant events and updates, reflecting the vibrant community that continues to thrive. In addition, Alumni Directory was also released on the occasion. A cultural program was also presented featuring performances by students showcasing dance, melodies and a meaningful message was presented through a skit. The cultural program was mentored by Dr. Aarti Bhatt and Dr. Ravinder Kumar. The layout of the program was prepared Dr. Lilu Ram &  Dr. Anjali Puri (IQAC coordinators),  Dr. Punam Bansal & Dr. Rajni Thakur (Alumni Committee Incharges).

The Alumni Meet concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect and reflect on their shared experiences. This gathering not only celebrated the college’s rich history but also laid the foundation for continued collaboration and support within the alumni community, ensuring a bright future for the institution.
