Congress team crafts detailed report in preparation for Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming US visit

Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s inaugural visit to the US as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, a Congress party’s overseas team comprising of leaders and tour strategists are on visit to India with a mission to enhance overall impact  of  Rahul’s visit through his engagements and also  by leveraging local resources and meticulous planning.

Rajwinder Singh, a key member of the team currently in Punjab after touring South India says, “We’re connecting with NRIs who are in India and their families to collect their concerns and perspectives. Our objective is for Rahul Gandhi to bring their issues to the attention of US lawmakers, particularly Democratic Party candidates, ensuring that the voices of the Indian diaspora are clearly conveyed and addressed.”

He also opined  that these insights will significantly support the LoP  in bringing the concerns of the NRI community to the forefront and addressing them .

Stressing their objective to enhance ties between the Indian-American community and US political figures,  Rajwinder said, “Our aim is to ensure that Gandhi’s visit is impactful and valuable by bringing the diaspora’s concerns to Kamala Harris, with whom Rahul might have a meeting.”

It has been reported that Kamala Harris, a US Democratic presidential candidate, and Rahul Gandhi recently had a telephonic conversation.

Mohinder Singh Gilzian, President of the Indian Overseas Congress in the US, said that Gandhi is committed to deeply investigating the challenges encountered by five million Indian-Americans.

“Rahul intends to engage with people  across diverse sectors, mirroring his approach in India. He aims to understand the reasons behind Indians moving abroad, thoroughly explore these issues, and assess what the Indian government can do to encourage people to stay in India and contribute to its development while living there,” he explained.

According to a statement from Indian Overseas Congress (IOC)  Chairman Sam Pitroda,  Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the US will be brief. He will be in Dallas on September 8 and in Washington DC on September 9 and 10. During his time in Dallas, Gandhi will engage with students, academics, and community members at the University of Texas, participate in a large community gathering, meet with technocrats, and have dinner with local leaders. The following day in Washington DC, similar engagements are planned with a range of peoples and groups.
