Regional Power & Renewable Energy Committee of Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI organised an Interactive Session on Role of PSPCL in Promoting Solar Power in Punjab at PHD House, Sector 31-A, Chandigarh to address the concerns and challenges faced by Industries while navigating the landscape of solar power promotion and implementation in Punjab.
While welcoming the delegates and speakers Sh. R S Sachdeva, Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI stated the significance of promotion of solar power as a solution to climate change. He also stressed on the transformative power of solar energy that drives economic growth and simultaneously creates employment opportunities for the youth. He further congratulated PSPCL in solving a number of power related issues efficiently in Punjab and stated that aim of the interaction is to delve deeper in the role of PSPCL as a facilitator for the same.
The industry perspective was given by Sh. Sanjiv Singh Sethi, Co-Chair, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI wherein he discussed the various benefits of solar energy. He also stated some issues faced by the solar industry in Punjab such as delay in clearances, steep costs of meters and the lengthy process of net-metering being faced.
Chief Guest on the occasion Sh. Baldev Singh Sran, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), presented a detailed presentation on how the industry and PSPCL can collaborate on overcoming the issues being faced by the industries. He stated that the installation of Rooftop Solar is a green area where Punjab can excel with the continued support of the industry. He further pointed out the fact that a joint effort in eradicating distrust from Punjab is required and big support from industrial players is required for the overall progress of the state.
The session witnessed an insightful discussion on various pain-points of the industry such as the requirement of sub-division officers with proper knowledge of solar power promotion, implementation and adoption, approval of solar installations upto 10KW with no processing fees is required in Punjab, the challenge of delayed net-metering approvals in the state, Â empanelment of limited vendors for net-meters and check-meters and wrong electricity bills of solar in Punjab.
The issues were duly heard and responded by Sh. Baldev Singh Sran, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). While summing up the session Sh. Parv Arora, Convener, Regional Power & Renewable Energy Committee, PHDCCI reiterated PHDCCI’s unwavering dedication to promoting solar industry in Punjab.
