State Level ‘Viksit Bharat at 2047: Voice of Youth’ Campaign aiming at propelling India toward an era of comprehensive development by the year 2047, kicked off from Punjab Raj Bhawan, on Monday.
Addressing the audience, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator UT, Chandigarh said that Viksit Bharat@2047 is the vision of Government of India to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of its independence. For this to happen, there is a need to chalk out a bold, ambitious and transformative agenda, with the involvement of all the stakeholders. The youth, who constitute our largest population group, has a huge role to play therein.
Calling upon the academia to shoulder the responsibility to facilitate the transformation process, Shri Purohit said that it is pertinent to channelize the innovative ideas of the youth into nation building by inviting them to ideate and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, and added that it is important that every youth, more so the youth in colleges/ institutes and Universities take part in this important nation-building exercise. Simultaneously, the academicians in their own innovative ways should assist in character building of the youth by instilling moral values and discipline, especially time-management skills.
He posed three questions and solicited a response from the youth, “What can you do to make Viksit Bharat@2047 possible? What do we need to do to reach this goal? How should a Viksit Bharat look like in 2047 in different aspects?” “Each one of you can think about it and send your suggestions on the Vikisit Bharat @ 2047 Ideas Portal” said the Governor.
Earlier, panel discussions were held on pertinent topics including Empowered Indians, Good Governance & Security, in which the prominent academicians of the state deliberated. Insight on ‘Engaging with youth for contributing on Viksit Bharat@2047 – Possible Approaches’ was given by Secretary Education, UT, Chandigarh.
The State Level Event witnessed an unprecedented confluence of academicians with over 20 Vice Chancellors of various Universities, Heads of Institutions, more than 250 Principals, Deans and faculty members of colleges from across the length and breadth of the State, in Punjab Raj Bhawan. Besides, senior officers from Department of Higher Education of Punjab and Chandigarh were also present on the occasion.
