Punjab Governor expresses Gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit has expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of People of Punjab and Chandigarh to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi for generous allocation of funds amounting to over Rs. 5000 crore for the re-development of Railway Stations in Punjab and Chandigarh.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Governor conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Government’s decision to invest in the comprehensive re-development of Chandigarh Railway Station and 22 Railway Stations in the State of Punjab. He highlighted that this allocation will have a transformative impact on the railway infrastructure of Punjab and Chandigarh, thereby elevating significantly the amenities at these stations and facilitating improved facilities for the passengers and travellers.
The generous allocation to the tune of Rs. 4762 crores for 22 railway stations of Punjab and Rs. 436 crore for Chandigarh Railway Station is expected to bolster the development process in the North of Delhi, reads the letter.
He further added that Chandigarh already represents an important economic hub in the region and re-development of its railway station will improve the overall efficiency of economic operations and passenger traffic in a big measure.
The fact that the Hon’ble Prime Minister will personally inaugurate both the projects online on August 6, 2023, fills the people of Punjab with immense pride and privilege.
Besides Rs.436 crore for Chandigarh Railway Station, Rs.23.7 crore for Kotkapura Junction in District Faridkot, Rs.25.1 crore for Sirhind in Fatehgar Sahib, Rs.27.6 crore for Ferozepur Cantt and Rs.21.1 crore have been sanctioned for Abohar in District Ferozepur.
Similarly, Rs.19.5 crore for Fazilka Railway Station, Rs. 21.3 crore for Pathankot City Railway Station, Rs. 16.5 crore for Gurdaspur Railway Station, Rs.99.0 crore for Jalandhar Cantt Junction, Rs. 24.4 for Phillaur Junction, Rs. 26.6 crore for Kapurthala Railway Station have been sanctioned.
Ludhiana junction has received the lion’s share amounting to Rs. 460 crore, Dhandari Kalan Rs.17.6 crore, Mansa Rs. 26.0 crore, Mohali Rs. 23.2 crore while Rs.47.5 crore have been sanctioned for Patiala Railway Station.
The Anandpur Sahib Railway Station has been sanctioned Rs. 24.2 crore, Roopnagar Rs. 24.0 crore, Nangal Dam Rs. 23.3 crore, Dhuri Rs. 37.6 crore, Sangrur Rs. 25.5 crore, Malerkotla Rs.22.9 and Muktsar Railway Station has been sanctioned Rs. 21.2 crore.
