Today, the Home Guards Raising Day was celebrated in parade grounds at Home Guards Head Quarter Sector- 17-E, Chandigarh with great enthusiasm. Sh. O.P. Mishra, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police-cum- Additional Commandant General Home Guards inspected the Guard of Honour. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. O.P. Mishra appreciated the assistance being rendered by the U.T. Home Guards to Chandigarh Police in maintaining Law and Order in the city.
He recalled the sacrifices made by Home Guard Volunteers in the performance of their duties. He said that they are no way less that the police personnel so far their dedication is concerned.
On the occasion, On the occasion, the cash rewards of Rs.1,50,000.00 and commendation certificates were given to 15 meritorious wards of Home Guards, excelling in education in various classes.. The three days FREE health Check up Camp in association with AXIS BANK Ltd. for Home Guards and their wards was also organised. The sweets and tea were also distributed amongst the volunteers.
